Made this column for my mother's home using PVC pipe, a wood box, and a molding ring from the hardware store. I wanted to scale it down a little, but she wanted it to be large.

Maybe you've already gotten ideas like I did from the DIY shows, such as covering an unsightly wall with fabric, as I did in an old home we were renting. Or putting a couple of suitcases together with a couple of leather belts and adding feet to make an inexpensive coffee table.

For the seastyle, I topped this chest off with a rustic frame that I made with twigs for the ship picture and a shell-framed (with shells I actually collected, of course) mosaic made from a broken mirror. Come to think of it, I think I did have seven years of bad luck, so I wouldn't advise it.
